AMY LAURITZEN
I first met David when I was participating in the Marian Anderson competition at the University of Maryland. One of the other competitors introduced me to him and we seemed to hit it off right away. I scheduled a lesson and we just never stopped, sometimes going three hours at a time! We performed many concerts together, recorded a CD, traveled to Russia, and although I live several states away now we still keep in touch and he is my “go to” guy for singing and teaching advice. While all my previous teachers told me how to sing, David actually taught me how to use what I already have and make it better. I trust him more than anyone when it comes to my voice. I have also come to enjoy and love him (and Richard!) as a friend. He is someone who has sincere compassion for others and is always there when someone needs him and I have tremendous respect for him.
The best memory I have of David is when we all traveled to Moscow to perform at the conservatory and I’m not sure how it came about but somehow we figured out that my bra fit on his head. I have the picture to prove it! Amy Lauritzen
